We visited the Acquario di Genova with some friends from back home who had come to visit us for a few days in Rapallo. Columbia and Luigi had already been to the aquarium once, but they were happy to return for an encore visit and show their friends around.
The aquarium wasn't very full, so we go to see the place at our own pace. I enjoyed the manatees (among many other exhibits). They're beautiful creatures. Somewhere between a cow, a dolphin, and a mermaid. Even though we've been to the Monterey Bay and Seattle Aquariums, I had never seen one before. Unfortunately, they were shy this day so I didn't get any photos.
The dolphins are a big draw for the museum, but I think their best exhibit is the one at the far end of the building that has a handful of different biomes, from the coral reefs of Bikini Bottom (yes, that Bikini Bottom, Sponge Bob), to the arid desert habitat of the tortuge (tortoises).
After the museum, we enjoyed lunch at Eataly, which is a relatively new chain of market/caffeterias from Mario Batali. Lunch was tasty, if pricey. Relaxed atmosphere allowed us to linger before heading back home to Rapallo.
