As we walked to the nearby beach from our apartment, I spied a stately building at the point of the nearest promontory. Thinking it belonged to some über-wealthy local, I wondered what it would cost to live at such an enviable point. Little did I know I was looking at the dilapidated and war-ravaged Hotel Belvedere.
After swimming, I went over to take a closer look. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera so I have no shots of my own to share. But I don't think pictures could capture the feeling of immense expense that must have gone in to building the hotel. It's an incredible waste that such a thing of beauty and opulence has been laid so low, now the host to graffiti and decay. I may have to return with the SLR before we depart...
